Terms of use

Kontinent AI sells access to AI models through an API. The API accepts the OpenAI and Anthropic formats. On this page, "we" means Kontinent AI and "you" means the person or business that holds the account.

Other companies make the models. We buy access to them from third-party AI suppliers and send your requests there. We do not claim that we made the models, and we have no agreement with their makers.

Kontinent AI is not affiliated with Anthropic, OpenAI, Google or any other company that makes a model on this service. These companies do not sponsor, endorse or support Kontinent AI.

Claude, GPT, Gemini and the other model names are trademarks of their owners. We use these names only to identify the models that you can call.

If you have a question about this service, contact us, not the company that made the model.

You are responsible for your API keys. Keep each key secret. Use it from a server, not from a browser or a mobile app, where other people can read it.

We bill each request made with your key to your balance, whoever made it. If a key leaks, revoke it in the dashboard. A revoked key stops at once.

Each key can make 60 requests a minute. We can change this limit.

Your balance is prepaid and held in US dollars. Each request takes its cost from the balance. There is no subscription and no monthly charge.

You add balance with a top-up, in US dollars or in your own currency. A top-up starts at $1 by mobile money or bank transfer, and at $3 by card.

Our payment provider, Bachs, takes the payment on its own page. When it confirms the payment, your balance goes up by the dollar amount you bought. A price in your currency is that dollar amount at our daily exchange rate, rounded up.

Your balance can also come from the starter balance and from redemption codes.

A new account gets a starter balance of $0.02. It works on the starter models only, with lower limits on each request.

We make redemption codes. A code adds a set amount to your balance. You can use each code once, and a code can expire.

The starter balance and the amounts from redemption codes have no cash value. You cannot withdraw them, sell them or move them to another account. You can spend them only on this service.

You pay per token. Our price for each model is a fixed multiple of that model's official price, the price its maker publishes. The pricing page and GET /v1/models show the official price, our price and the multiple for each model.

Each response shows what it cost, the official price of the same tokens and the difference.

We can change prices. We show a new price on the pricing page before it applies. A new price applies to requests made after the change, not to requests already made.

We bill the token counts that the supplier reports for your request, at our price. Before a request runs, we hold enough of your balance to pay for the largest answer you allowed. When the request ends, we return the part it did not use.

If a request fails and no route answers, we return the full hold and you pay nothing.

If you close a streamed request before it ends, we bill the tokens the model produced. The model does not stop when you disconnect, and the supplier bills us for those tokens.

Some models think before they answer. The supplier bills those hidden tokens as output tokens, and so do we.

You must obey the usage policy of the company that made each model you call: Anthropic , OpenAI and Google .

Do not use the service for anything that is illegal where you are. Do not make content that sexually exploits children, or content that harasses, defrauds or impersonates a real person.

Do not sell, share or rent your API keys. Do not resell access to the API.

Do not try to get around a rate limit, a balance check or the limits on the starter balance. Do not make many accounts to collect starter balances.

We can suspend or close an account, and revoke its keys, if it breaks these terms or harms the service. We will tell you why by email.

We provide the service as it is. We do not promise an uptime figure or a response time for support.

Models can give wrong answers. Check any answer that matters before you rely on it.

A model can become unavailable, change its behaviour or change its official price. A supplier can fail. We try more than one route to each model, but we cannot promise that a route always answers.

As far as the law allows, we are not liable for loss that comes from model output or from an interruption of the service.

We can change these terms. We will post the new version on this page with a new date. If a change affects what you pay or what you may do, we will also email the address on your account before the change applies.
